In this most turbulent of times, protesting for civil rights, I wonder if those who sacrificed their lives and freedoms at the beginnings, when peaceful protest was first tested, were more nuanced in their approach and more mature in their understanding of what they faced, and the best way to approach the issue. They did throw caution to the wind, but their words held strong in the hearts of the people they tried to impress upon. Perhaps we should revisit the words and actions of these Civil Rights pioneers.
“Martin taught us that it’s in the action that we find out who we really are.”
